The solution

This project, located in Haute-Garonne, meets the needs of a wood energy professional for the storage of wood chips intended to supply biomass boiler plants.

Three 12 m x 36 m SHELTERALL® structures were installed by our teams in 2016, mounted on TOUTABLOC® concrete blocks. Open at both ends, they facilitate the movement of handling equipment and optimise bulk wood chip storage and retrieval operations.

The tunnel effect of SHELTERALL® shelters ensures excellent natural ventilation, essential for drying wood chips. By reducing the moisture content of the stored wood, this configuration improves the calorific value of the fuel and guarantees optimal delivery quality to boiler plants.

The installations are equipped with interior protective steel sheets to preserve the structure during loading operations, as well as linking gutters for optimised rainwater management between the shelters.

⚡ Outstanding field experience: The robustness of the structures was put to the test in spectacular fashion: during a violent hailstorm with hailstones the size of tennis balls, many surrounding buildings and vehicles were severely damaged. The 3 SHELTERALL® shelters suffered no damage whatsoever, concrete proof of the resistance of our structures to extreme weather conditions.
